As many of you know, it takes approximately 20 minutes for your brain to get the message when the stomach is full. That leads many people to eat more than they necessarily need to feel satiated.

I've known this and have been losing weight pretty good but I decided to test the idea this week. So, I made my normal size meals I was eating and seeing how taking my time (painfully slow) would effect the quantities I needed.

The results were pretty surprising to me. By making a meal last a long time, I literally would get full halfway through quantity wise. This was for every meal. Now I assumed that since I ate half the amount of food, I would feel hungrier sooner. This shockingly (for me anyway) was not the case.

So this week 2/7 I weighed 141.2lbs (just after a slight gain week). This morning 2/13, I am down to 136 flat. That's 5.2 lbs in 7 days with a cheat day included. That is INSANE for me. I have not lost anywhere near this much in one week. This loss is 1/3 of what I lost my 1st 6 weeks so I am essentially doubling my fat loss by eating slowly.

It's hard to get used to and I find myself having to slow myself down, but give it a try for a week if you can stand it and report back. It would be interesting if you see similar results.

Hell I just had a garden steak-tip salad in one of those to-go plastic containers. Normally I would devour the whole thing for a meal. Taking my time I have about 1/3 of it remaining for later. I have never in my life left a salad this size uneaten.

I'm with you Gameface - taking the time to let the fullness register in your brain does make a huge difference.

When I eat lunch at my desk, I often find I don't eat nearly as much. I'm busy typing, clicking & reading things so I eat much slower, and then I feel full before I've actually eaten all my food.

It's hard though when just sitting down at the dinner table!

One of the things I'm doing is making myself wait before I have seconds. So I serve myself a smaller portion and think that if I'm still hungry I can go back and get more. But before I do, I make myself wait for a bit to see if I start to feel fuller after a while, and I usually do and then don't really want the second portion.

So yeah, I can vouch for this one!

Two thumbs up for you Gameface! I totally agree with this method and it’s been so effective for me. I’m glad I learned this idea coz it doesn’t make me feel deprived at all.
Way to go Gameface! Thanks for sharing. ^^

I agree with you Michelle. Before I started Slow Carb Diet, I used to eat about 2 cups of rice and that's like 2 to 3 plates a per meal. But now I'd feel full with just 1/2 cup of rice and some side dishes.... And by the way, drinking more water helps me a lot too.

Wow, gameface. It's wild that you had such huge results from doing that. I should try that this week and see how it goes.
