Do Women Lose Weight on the Slow Carb Diet?
There's an interesting post at the 4 Hour Body Couple talking about whether the slow carb diet actually works for women.
I can "weigh in" on this a little - my husband lost MUCH faster than I did on this diet. And yes, it was disheartening.
I also had much less to lose than many of the testimonials you see for the slow carb diet - I only wanted to lose about 15lbs, not the 40, 70, 100+ that many people come to the diet with.
I started to lose faster once I cut out the beans. I don't know if it's a women-and-carb thing, or if it's just me using beans as a scapegoat, but I HATE the beans and am glad they're gone.
Slow carb was more a catalyst to many other nutritional ideas - namely the elimination of high glycemic index foods - that changed my day-to-day way of eating for almost a year now. I can say that I'm much more active, much happier, much healthier, at least I feel like I am having changed my eating habits and slow carb was the start of those changes.

I've lost 8 kilos in 10 weeks so far on slow carb and I have several female friends who have had much more success on a low carb diet than on a low fat diet. Males have different bodies to females and I wouldn't compare your efforts to anyone else's - individual human biochemistry is far too complex for that kind of simplification. PS I love beans and lentils but then again, I like cooking so I'm happy to experiment until I find recipes I like.
