I've been going for 10 weeks and lost about 8 kilos (17.6 pounds). The last two weeks I've been on antibiotics and i'ts completely stalled everything (damn!) so before that I averaged a kilo (2.2 pounds) a week. When I went over my food diaries on FaceBook I noticed the weeks I ate something with artificial sugar (like an Atkins bar while travelling) I gained more (or lost less) weight BUT the weeks I had something with REAL sugar (like a couple peppermints or a fresh date) were the same weeks I lost more weight.

I didn't eat more than about 5 teaspoons of real sugar in the weeks I consumed it (over the whole week) or more than 3 Atkins bars in the weeks I had artificial sugar (I think they have about 2.7g net carbs from Malitol and Sorbitol).

Has anyone noticed that artificial sugar is doing as much/more damage to their weight loss than real sugar?
